- Independence Day is the day of introspection to review our failures and examine progress made by India in last 75 years. Right from the day India became independent, repeated wars were thrust on India by India’s malicious neighbours without any apparent reasons. To make the matters worse, insurgency was pushed in various parts including J & K, North East India and Dandakaranya region in the hinterland areas of India through centrifugal tendencies by these inimical powers. After failing in their nefarious attempts, proxy war has been launched against India through repeated terrorist attacks through coastal regions, through land borders as well through mountainous areas to destabilize India. Heinous communal riots ignited by these tendencies were a norm of the day and several precious lives were lost due to the same. Having failed in these attempts, now narco-terrorism has been let loose. In last one year itself, more than thirty thousand kilograms of heroin was seized by Narcotics Bureau of India. Apart from destroying the career of Indian youth, the illegal money generated through narcotics is used to smuggle deadly weapons to wreck India. Cyber-attacks on personal and sensitive locations are a non-ending exercise. Today, therefore, is the day to remember and salute all those who guard our borders, protect us within the country and make our lives safe.
- In first twenty-five to thirty years, as a result of this international conspiracy, attacks, adhering to outdated dogmatic ideas and refusal by the developed world to transfer advanced technology, India witnessed acute shortages of essential items including food, water, sanitation, electricity, educational facilities, employment, repeated natural disasters and health hazards. There was minimal infrastructure to support growth. Even then, unlike many emerging economies and other South Asian countries, India’s resolve and commitment to democratic values remained firm. Democratically elected peoples’ representatives at Central, State and local levels overcame these adverse situations boldly. Several Indians migrated to other countries, learned the tricks of success and few of these returned to India. For another twenty years, these persons imitated what they had learnt to convert India globally competitive. But after 2000, India is making tremendous progress in every field. Notable among these which deserve mention is progress in space technology, agricultural products, marine and milk products, manufactured goods, IT services, pharmaceutical generic drugs, exports in goods and services, research and technological innovations in crucial areas, films, sports and many other fields. Indian educational, scientific, technological, legal, research, administration, management and educational institutes are of global standards. Today India’s literacy rate has crossed 75% of the population.
- In the last eight years, through welfare measures using fintech and other technological innovations for upliftment of poor people in India, the country is on the verge of emerging as विश्व गुरु through आत्म निर्भर policies initiated by Modi government. Research in controlling pandemic such as Corona effectively has amazed the rest of the world. Schemes such as digital payment have astonished even the developed world.
- Today let’s resolve to discard efforts made by vested interests to create conflicts and acrimony among ourselves on account of regions, religions, castes, sex, languages and commit ourselves for brighter, stronger India by relying on our cherished heritage as well as by adopting modern scientific, technological innovations for welfare of Indians and through them for entire people of the world. Let’s be sensitive to weaker sections including those who are unfortunate not to get adequate opportunities, those who are having special abilities, elderly, sick and poor people and strive to make their life meaningful.
